Old Time Music Hall offers night of nostalgia |

AN evening of nostalgic music is being performed by the Tiverton Amateur Operatic Society (TAOS) this week.
 The society will be hosting an Old Time Music Hall full of old favourites such as Flash Bang Wallop, My Old Man and Lambeth Walk on Friday 4 May.
The show's musical director Shirley Cousins hopes that the audience will be able to sing along with them: "It will be a good night's entertainment, and the audience should know at least half of the songs we are singing.
"Although sometimes challenging I love doing this and we all enjoy working together. It always comes together in the end."
TAOS member Stan Street added: "I'm looking forward to performing Underneath the Arches with another member of the group.
"There are a few nerves as we have nearly finished rehearsals - I just hope I don't forget my words."
The show starts at 7.30pm at the Royal British Legion on Angel Hill. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Twyford Photography or at the door on the night itself.

Appeal for new cast members for Sound of Music |

THE TIVERTON Amateur Operatic Society (TAOS) is looking for new members to join the cast of the Sound of Music.
The groups 2012 production which takes place in September are back to rehearsals on Tuesday 8 May at 7.30pm for adults and Sunday 13 May for children.
Auditions take place throughout the day on Sunday 20 May.
The musical is based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers and young nun Maria who is sent to the Trapp household to learn something about the real world before she can take her vows.
The society has made a special appeal for youngsters between 5-15 to join the cast to fill the roles of the Von Trapp children Gretl, Marta, Brigitta, Kurt, Louisa, Fredrich and Liesl.
The taster session for young people interested in joining is at the Royal British Legion on Angel Hill between 2-4pm on Sunday 13 May. For more information contact TAOS chairman Pauline Farr on 07800851360. |

For anyone interested in treading the boards, why not come along to our rehearsals at the British Legion, Angel Hill, Tiverton, on Friday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30pm and give it a whirl! Membership is only £30 for the year. For those under the age of 16 we encourage you to join the Tiverton Junior Operatic Club. Any new members are welcome. Show for 2012 - The Sound Of Music... |

 The committee took the unusual step of obtaining the licence for the re-released show, the great box office musical, The Sound Of Music without holding an E.G.M.
It was unanimously agreed that it would be a good show for the Society to do, and hopefully involve some of the Junior Operatic Club.
This will take place in September 2012.
So if you have always fancied being a nun - watch this space to see when rehearsals begin. Could YOU be the next Maria?
